This is a frequently asked question….
It all has to do with what’s in the products we use on a daily basis. Many household cleaners, soaps, hair care products, etc. contain some pretty nasty stuff when you look a little closer, and yet they are marketed as “safe”.

So where does that plastic bottle, straw, wrapper, shrink wrap, etc. etc. etc. go??
In 2024, there are an estimated 75 to 199 million tons of plastic in the ocean, with millions more tons entering the ocean each year.
How much plastic enters the ocean each year?
- Around 8 million pieces of plastic enter the ocean every day.
- The International Union for Conservation of Nature estimates that 14 million tons of plastic enter the ocean annually.
How much plastic is on the ocean floor?
- A study by CSIRO and the University of Toronto estimates that 3 to 11 million tons of plastic are on the ocean floor.
- Scientists believe there could be up to 10,000 times more plastic particles on the sea floor than on its surface.
How does plastic affect marine life?
- Plastic pollution is a threat to many sea mammals, including seals, dolphins, whales, and fish.
- Microplastics are mistaken by sea birds for fish eggs, and are passed to their young.
